The Well Digger
For over fifty years, Chénéb has dug wells by hand. On the Cap Bon peninsula, in the orchards and orange groves of Beni Khiar, water still comes from the ground the old way: a pickaxe, a rope, a bucket, and a man who descends alone into the shaft and lines its walls as he goes, brick by brick.
Half a century of repetition has shaped his body the way water shapes stone. What the work demands, the body remembers.
